The World Taekwondo Academy(hereinafter referred to as the “WTA”) establishes and discloses this Privacy Policy in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act of Korea in order to protect the personal information and rights of data subjects and to smoothly handle complaints related to personal information.

□ Purposes of Processing Personal Information

  • The WTA processes personal information for the following purposes. Personal information processed shall not be used for purposes other than those stated below. If the purpose of use is changed, the WTA will take necessary measures, such as obtaining separate consent, in accordance with Article 18 of the Personal Information Protection Act.

    • A.Website Membership Registration and Management
      Personal information is processed for the purposes of confirming intent to register as a member, identifying and authenticating users for the provision of membership-based services, maintaining and managing membership qualifications, identity verification under the limited identity verification system, preventing unauthorized use of services, delivering notices and notifications, handling complaints, and retaining records for dispute resolution.
    • B.Civil Complaint Handling
      Personal information is processed for the purposes of verifying the identity of complainants, confirming complaint details, contacting and notifying complainants for fact-finding investigations, and notifying complainants of processing results.
    • C.Provision of Goods or Services
      Personal information is processed for the purposes of delivering goods, providing services, issuing invoices, providing content, offering customized services, identity verification, age verification, payment and settlement of fees, and debt collection.

□ Items of Personal Information Processed

  • The WTA collects and uses personal information based on the following legal grounds.

    • B.Processing of Payments for Tuition and Fees
      Legal Basis: Article 15(1)1 of the Personal Information Protection Act (Consent)
    • Items Collected and Used:ID, order details, payment information, bank account information

□ Retention and Use Period of Personal Information

  • A.The WTA processes and retains personal information within the period of retention and use prescribed by applicable laws or within the period agreed upon by the data subject at the time of collection.
  • B.The retention and use periods for each category of personal information are as follows:
    • Operation of Membership Services: Until membership withdrawal
      However, in the following cases, personal information shall be retained until the relevant reason ceases to exist:
      • 1) If investigations or inquiries are ongoing due to violations of relevant laws, until such investigations or inquiries are completed
      • 2) If creditor–debtor relationships arising from website use remain, until settlement of such relationships is completed
    • Processing of Payments for Tuition and Fees: Five (5) years (Pursuant to Article 6(1)3 of the Enforcement Decree of the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, etc., records on payment and supply of goods)
    • Civil Complaint Handling (excluding payment- and supply-related matters): Three (3) years (In accordance with internal regulations of the WTA)
  • C.Notwithstanding the above, personal information shall be retained until the relevant reason ceases to exist in the following cases:
    • If investigations or inquiries are ongoing due to violations of relevant laws, until such investigations or inquiries are completed

□ Procedures and Methods for Destruction of Personal Information

  • A.The WTA shall destroy personal information without delay when the retention period has expired or the purpose of processing has been achieved and the personal information is no longer necessary.
  • B.If personal information must be retained in accordance with other laws despite the expiration of the retention period agreed upon by the data subject or the achievement of the processing purpose, such personal information shall be transferred to a separate database (DB) or stored in a different location.
  • C.The procedures and methods for destruction of personal information are as follows
    • Destruction Procedure
      The WTA selects personal information subject to destruction upon occurrence of a destruction reason and destroys such personal information after obtaining approval from the Chief Privacy Officer of the Academy.
    • Destruction Method
      Personal information recorded and stored in electronic file formats shall be destroyed in a manner that prevents restoration, and personal information recorded and stored in paper documents shall be shredded or incinerated.

□ Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

  • A.When providing personal information to a third party, the WTA shall obtain the consent of the data subject in accordance with Article 17(1)1 of the Personal Information Protection Act and shall provide such information only to the minimum extent necessary.
  • B.The WTA may provide personal information to relevant authorities without the consent of the data subject in accordance with applicable laws.

□ Outsourcing of Personal Information Processing

  • A.The WTA outsources certain personal information processing tasks as follows to ensure the smooth and efficient processing of personal information.

  • B.When entering into an outsourcing agreement, the WTA specifies in written documents, such as contracts, matters concerning the prohibition of personal information processing beyond the purpose of the entrusted tasks, technical and administrative security measures, restrictions on re-outsourcing, management and supervision of the entrusted party, and liability including compensation for damages, in accordance with Article 26 of the Personal Information Protection Act, and supervises whether the entrusted party processes personal information safely.

  • C.In accordance with Article 26(6) of the Personal Information Protection Act, if the entrusted party re-outsources the Academy’s personal information processing tasks, the WTA requires its prior consent. The WTA discloses the re-entrusted party and the details of the re-entrusted tasks through this Privacy Policy.

  • D.If there are any changes to the details of the outsourced tasks or the entrusted parties, the WTA will disclose such changes without delay through this Privacy Policy.

□ Measures to Ensure the Security of Personal Information
The WTA implements the following measures to ensure the security of personal information.

  • A.Administrative Measures:Establishment and implementation of an internal management plan, regular employee training, and operation of a dedicated organization
  • B.Technical Measures: Management of access rights to personal information processing systems, installation of access control systems and other related security measures, encryption of personal information, storage and review of access records, installation and updating of security programs, and inspection and remediation of vulnerabilities in personal information processing systems
  • C.Physical Measures: Access control to computer rooms and document storage areas, storage of documents and auxiliary storage media in secure locations equipped with locking devices, safety measures against disasters and emergencies, and control of the removal and entry of auxiliary storage media

□ Installation, Operation, and Refusal of Automatic Personal Information Collection Devices

  • A.The WTA uses “cookies” that store and retrieve usage information from time to time in order to provide customized services and convenience to data subjects.
  • B.Cookies are small pieces of information sent by the server (HTTP) used to operate the website to the data subject’s browser, which are stored on the data subject’s computer or mobile device and are automatically transmitted from the browser to the server upon website access.
  • C.Data subjects may configure their browser options to allow or block cookies.

□ Rights and Obligations of Data Subjects and Legal Representatives and Methods of Exercising Such Rights

  • A.Data subjects may, at any time, request the WTA to access, transfer, correct, delete, suspend the processing of, or withdraw consent for their personal information (hereinafter referred to as the “exercise of rights”).
  • B.The exercise of rights may be made to the WTA in writing, by telephone, e-mail, facsimile (FAX), or via the Internet, in accordance with Article 41(1) of the Enforcement Decree of the Personal Information Protection Act, and the WTA shall take action without delay.
  • C.The exercise of rights may also be made through a legal representative of the data subject or an authorized agent. In such cases, a power of attorney in the form prescribed in [Appendix Form No. 11] of the “Notice on Personal Information Processing Methods” must be submitted.
  • D.The right of a data subject to request access to or suspension of processing of personal information may be restricted pursuant to Article 35(4) and Article 37(2) of the Personal Information Protection Act.
  • E.Where personal information is specified as an item to be collected under other applicable laws, the data subject may not request the deletion of such personal information.
  • F.The WTA verifies whether the person exercising the rights is the data subject or a duly authorized representative.
  • G.Data subjects may exercise their rights by contacting the department listed below. The WTA shall respond within ten (10) days from the date on which the request for the exercise of rights is received.

  • This Privacy Policy shall take effect as of January 22, 2026.

Privacy Policy

<World Taekwondo Academy>(‘http://wta.kukkiwon.or.kr/’hereinafter ‘World Taekwondo Academy’) has the following policy for protecting personal information, rights and interests of users in accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, and treating grievance of users related to personal information.

In the event of revising personal information treatment policy, World Taekwondo Academy will notify users through the notice of its website (or individual notice).

○ This policy will come into effect from January 1, 2017.

1. Purpose of Treatment of Personal Information

  • a.Homepage Membership and Management
    World Taekwondo Academy treats personal information for the purpose of confirmation of intention to join as a member, identification•authentication for provision of membership service, maintenance•management of qualification for membership, identity verification in accordance with implementation of Limited Identity Verification System, prevention of illegal use of service, confirmation of a legal representative’s consent when collecting personal information of children under 14, various notice•notification, settlement of grievance, preservation of record for conciliation of dispute etc.
  • b.Treatment of Civil Petitions
    World Taekwondo Academy treats personal information for the purpose of identity confirmation a civil petitioner, confirmation of civil petitions, contact•notification for investigation of fact, notification of result etc.
  • c.Offering of Goods or Service
    World Taekwondo Academy treats personal information for the purpose of delivery of goods, provision of service, sending a bill, provision of contents, provision of customized service, identification, authentication of age, payment•calculation of charge, credit collection etc.
  • d.Use for Marketing and Advertising
    World Taekwondo Academy treats personal information for the purpose of development and provision of new and customized service (product), provision of event and advertising information and offering of opportunities to participate in, provision of service and advertising post, confirmation of validity of service, understanding of access frequency or statistics of service use of members according to the demographic characteristics.
  • e.Personal Imagery Intelligence
    World Taekwondo Academy treats personal information for the purpose of prevention and investigation of crimes, facility safety and fire prevention, collection•analysis and provision of traffic information etc.

3. Treatment of Personal Information and Retention Period

  • a.World Taekwondo Academy treats and retains personal information within the period of retention•use of personal information in accordance with laws and regulations, or personal information retention period agreed by the principals of information at the time of collecting personal information.
  • b.Treatment and retention period of personal information are as follows.

      Personal information related to <Homepage membership and management> are retained•used for the foregioing purposes <until the time of withdrawal of membership> from the date of consent on the collection and use of such personal information.

        • ① Record on the collection/treatment and use of credit information: 3 years
        • ② Record on the settlement of consumer complaint or dispute: 3 years

        • ④ Record on the cancellation of a contract or subscription: 5 years

4. Consignment of Treatment of Personal Information

  • a.For smooth handling and treatment of personal information, <World Taekwondo Academy> consigns treatment of personal information as follows.
  • b.When concluding a consignment contract, <World Taekwondo Academy>(‘http://wta.kukkiwon.or.kr/’hereinafter ‘World Taekwondo Academy’) specifies matters on responsibilities such as prohibition of treatment of personal information, technical․managerial protective measures, limitation on the reconsignment, management․supervision of a consignee, compensation for damages on the document such as contract etc. in accordance with Article 25 of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, and supervises if the consignee treats personal information in a safe way other than the purpose of consigned work.
  • c.In case details of consigned work or a consignee is changed, World Taekwondo Academy will open such changes through personal information treatment policy without delay.

5. Rights and Duties of the Principals of Information, and Exercise Method

  • a.Principals of information may exercise each of the following rights on protection of personal information anytime against World Taekwondo Academy.
    • 1) Request for reading of personal information
    • 2) Request for correction of errors etc.
    • 3) Request for deletion
    • 4) Request for suspension of treatment
  • b.As for exercise of rights in accordance with Clause 1, user may exercise against World Taekwondo Academy in writing or through electronic mail, fax etc., in accordance with Annex Form No. 8 of the Enforcement Regulations of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, and World Taekwondo Academy (http://wta.kukkiwon.or.kr) will take measures without delay.
  • c.In case a principal of information requests correction or deletion of the error in personal information, World Taekwondo Academy (http://wta.kukkiwon.or.kr) will not use or provide such personal information until correction or deletion is completed.
  • d.As for exercise of rights in accordance with Clause 1, user may exercise through an agent such as legal representative or authorized person the principal of information. In such as case, the principal of information shall submit a power of attorney in accordance with Annex Form No. 11 of the Enforcement Regulations of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information.

6. Preparation of Items of Personal Information to be Treated

  • a.World Taekwondo Academy treats following items of personal information.
    • 1) <Homepage Membership and Management>
      • A) Required: Email, mobile phone number, home address, home telephone number, question and answer for password, password, login ID, gender, date of birth, name, Kukkiwon Poom/Dan number
      • B) Optional: business phone number, position, department, company name, occupation, credit card information, bank account information, record of service use, access log, cookies, access IP address, name, home telephone number, address and mobile phone number of a legal representative, a legal representative

7. Destruction of Personal Information
In principle, World Taekwondo Academy destructs personal information without delay after the purpose of treatment of personal information is achieved. Procedure, time limit and method of destruction are as follows.

  • a.Destruction Procedure
    After the purpose is achieved, information input by the user is destroyed after being saved for a specific period of time or immediately in accordance with internal policy and relevant laws and regulations after being transferred to a separate DB (as for papers, separate documents). At this time, personal information transferred to the DB are not used for other purposes unless required by the law.
  • b.Time Limit for Destruction
    In case personal information retention period is expired, user's personal information is destroyed within 5 days from the date of expiration, and is destroyed within 5 days from the date when treatment of personal information is considered unnecessary such as the purpose of treatment of such personal information is achieved, cancellation of the service, close of business etc.
  • c.Destruction Method For electronic files, World Taekwondo Academy uses a technical method that record cannot be regenerated. For personal information printed on the paper, World Taekwondo Academy shreds with a paper shredder or destructs through incineration

8. Measures for Securing Safety of Personal Information
World Taekwondo Academy takes technical/managerial and physical measures necessary for securing safety of personal information in accordance with Article 29 of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information.

  • a.Implementation of Periodic Internal Audit
    World Taekwondo Academy conducts internal audit on a periodic basis (quarterly) for securing stability related to handling of personal information.
  • b.Minimization and Education of Staff Members handling Personal Information
    World Taekwondo Academy carries out measures for management of personal information by designating, limiting to and minimizing the number of staff members handling personal information.
  • c.Establishment and Implementation of Internal Management Plan
    World Taekwondo Academy establishes and implements an internal management plan for safe treatment of personal information.
  • d.Technical Countermeasures against Hacking etc.
    To prevent leakage and damage of personal information by hacking or computer virus etc., World Taekwondo Academy monitors and blocks technically and physically by installing a security program, conducting periodic renewal•inspection, installing a system in the area where access from outside is restricted.
  • e.Encryption of Personal Information
    Password for user's personal information is saved and managed after being encrypted, so only the user can know the password, and World Taekwondo Academy uses a separate security function such as encryption of the file and transfer data of important data or use of file locking function etc.
  • f.Storage of Access Record and Prevention of Forgery
    World Taekwondo Academy stores and manages records of accessing personal information treatment system for at least 6 months, and uses a security function to keep access record from forgery, robbery or loss.
  • g.Restriction of Access to Personal Information
    World Taekwondo Academy takes measures necessary for restricting access to personal information through grant, change and cancellation of authority to access database system treating personal information, and restricts unauthorized access from outside by using an intrusion blocking system.
  • h.Use of Locking Device for Document Security
    World Taekwondo Academy stores documents and auxiliary storage media that personal information are included in a safe place with a locking device.
  • i.Access Control of Unauthorized Personnel
  • j.World Taekwondo Academy has established and operated access control procedure having a physically-separate space keeping personal information.

9. Privacy Officer
In principle, World Taekwondo Academy destructs personal information without delay after the purpose of treatment of personal information is achieved. Procedure, time limit and method of destruction are as follows.

  • b.Principals of information may ask privacy officer or department in charge for information on the protection of personal information, handling of complaints, relief of damage that occur in the course of using the service (or business) of World Taekwondo Academy. World Taekwondo Academy will answer and handles questions of the principals of information without delay.

10. Change of Personal Information Treatment Policy

  • a.This personal information treatment policy is applied from enforcement date, and World Taekwondo Academy will notify addition, deletion and correction in accordance with laws and regulations and policy from 7 days before such changes through the notice.
